Do Not Underestimate The Power Of Vanity

Emotionally, Revenge of the Sith has greater depth than some of the series, and that core is reflected superficially. What makes Anakin go to the dark side? Problem skin, that's what! A small scar leads to disfiguring deformity and a potential hero's esteem is shattered.

Though the concept that a bad epidermis indicates an evil dude has persisted since a long time ago and far, far away, anyone with an ongoing need to see a dermatologist is aware of the psychological effect of abnormal skin. Psoriasis, acne, and scars may not turn people into planet destroying monsters, but neither do they promote much desire to save the galaxy.

Anakin's so HOT that he's not even stifled by his small scar.

But the pull of the dark side (and catching on fire after a fight)...

...Cause disfigurement that requires more than just a little coverup.
