Skeletor Day

Very much like James McAvoy Day, I've decided to make today Skeletor Day. Why Skeletor? Dunno really. Just thought I choose someone fictional for this round!

Skeletor, supposedly from the dimension of Infinita, is a blue-skinned, skull-faced warlord who rules the dark side of Eternia from Snake Mountain. He learned his black magic from Hordak, the powerful warlord of Eternia's sister planet Etheria and arch-nemesis of She-Ra, of whom he was once the second-in-command. Skeletor, being the bad-ass he truly is, betrayed Hordak after his forces were defeated, and the two have been bitter enemies ever since.

Skeletor possesses an array of mystic powers that seem to vary depending on the whims of the particular writer using him at the time. He is usually armed with a magical weapon called the Havoc Staff; a pole crowned with a small replica of a ram's skull. He can discharge bolts of mystic force from the head of the staff. Sometimes Skeletor has displayed the ability to discharge energy from his own body. In the early mini-comics (not the animated series) Skeletor sometimes possessed one of the halves of the power sword (He-Man’s sword) from which he could also project magic energies. He also has the ability to teleport himself and others over vast distances, send telepathic commands to his minions, open gateways between dimensions or perform remote viewing. He has also shown himself to be a gifted swordsman. As a master of the mystic arts he is also privy to much secret knowledge about the universe.

In an attempt to explain his bare skull, some fans have suggested that Skeletor may be an undead fantasy creature called lich due to the fact that he died or came close to it, only to have his mortal body healed kept alive in an inhuman state by dark magic.

Perhaps you can shed light on something that's been puzzling me: What was the story behind Scare Glow as far as I remember he was some astral projection of Skeletor that he could use to sneak around.

I don't know if it featured in the TV series, but the toy came out around the time that I was living on the Franco swiss border, and my Mum wouldn't let me have it because it was too scary for a 5/6 year old. My Dad wanted me to get Gwildor instead, but I ended up going for Evil-Lyn because she was hot - mmm... Look at those legs!

LOL! Scare Glow! That's a name I haven't heard in a LONG time!!! That character started out as toy, but it never made an appearance in the TV cartoon series. Scare Glow was in one of the comics though, "The Search for Keldor." He was invisible in the light if I remember correctly.

Evil-Lyn is definitely an awesome character! She's one of the only henchmen Skeletor has who isn't an idiot! I remember an episode where she took her hat off... and she had white hair! LOL!

Gwildor annoyed the hell out of me in the Masters of the Universe movie (not that the movie was any good to begin with.) He was like a cheap Orko replacement, but not nearly as cool!

Goodness, you're hot on your He-Man facts. Okay then, whilst we're at it, what's the deal with that "New Adventures Of He Man" gumpf, you know, the one set in space?

New Adventures Of He Man was a horrible series in my opinion. It wasn't even really a continuation of the old series. It was more like a more adaptation of the He-Man concept. I only watched a few episodes in that series though.

The newest Masters of the Universe series isn't that bad. The first several episodes go into great detail on the origin of how Adam came into receiving the sword of power. It's also a bit more realistic as Adam isn't muscular at all until he becomes He Man.

I don't see that happening anytime soon, though the DVD's should be hitting the shelves pretty soon!

Meanwhile, I give you this little clip to hold you over! :-P

I loooooved He-Man and She-Ra.

I always wanted He-Man Toys but man, I really was scared of them. I had like two skeletors (dunno why two?!) but I was really scared and I hid them under my bed *LOL*

Besides of that I got that huge spide that could walk where u could sit in skeletor. I remember that I got it for christmas when I was 6. My mum thought it was really ugly.

Anywayz. Skeletor got a nice body. I always fancied him ;o)

Edward - I figured you'd like that! :-P

Bubbly Theater - Skeletor does have a nice body, but when you think about it all the characters are buff and tone... Man at Arms, Prince Adam, Beastman, King Randor, Trap-jaw, Manefaces, etc... it's odd that they all have the same hard body physique!
